we want to see what happens when salt is added to ice and if Ice-cream can be made with only a few ingredients.
Materials
- Milk, sugar, ice, salt, vanilla,
- Cup
- Spoons
- Snap lock bags 2 different sizes
Procedure
- In a small resealable plastic bag, combine whipping cream, sugar, and vanilla. Push out excess air and seal.
- Into a large resealable plastic bag, combine ice and salt. Place small bag inside the bigger bag and shake vigorously, 7 to 10 minutes, until ice cream has hardened.
- Remove from bag and enjoy
Result
The liquid thickened in some places but not in others
It looked creamy and smooth before we opened the reusable bags
Data and analysis
There were some people that had the same reaction as my group. Some of there ice cream was solid but the rest was liquid.
However the other groups ice cream went more thicker and chunkier ice cream.
Conclusion
I learnt that when you shake the bag fast and vigorously the ice cream thickens
If you don't add salt into the ice the ice cream will not form
